The 2011 total gets dicey with Chhattisgarh’s posting a figure of zero farm suicides. A zero figure should be great news. Except that Chhattisgarh had 7,777 farm suicides in the preceding five years, including 1,126 in 2010. It has been amongst the very worst States for such deaths for several years. The share of the worst (Big 5) states (Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh) as a percentage of total farm suicides, is now around 64 per cent. Even with Chhattisgarh showing a ‘zero’ figure, that is not much lower than the preceding five-year average for the Big 5 of close to 66 per cent. It could be that Chhattisgarh’s figures have simply not made it to the NCRB in time. Otherwise, it means that the State is in fact a late entrant to the numbers massage parlour. Others have been doing it for years. Maharashtra since 2007, following the Prime Minister’s visit to Vidarbha. Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar has strictly avoided using NCRB farm data in Parliament since 2008 because the data are unpleasant. (The union government however quotes the NCRB for all other categories). Now, governments are deep into fiddling the data that goes from the States to the NCRB.
With the Big 5 also staring drought in the face, what numbers the coming season will throw up is most worrying. Within Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada have already been under great stress (which in turn pushes officials to step up data fiddles). If the numbers are re-calculated using the annual average of Chhattisgarh in the past five years, the national total of farm suicides for 2011 would be 15,582. And the share of the Big 5 (at 10,524) would be nearly 68 per cent. That’s higher than the five-year average for those States, too. In 1995, the first time the NCRB tabulated farm suicide data, the Big 5 accounted for 56.04 per cent of all farm suicides.
In 2011, five States showed increases of over 50 farm suicides compared to 2010. These included Gujarat (55), Haryana (87), Madhya Pradesh (89), Tamil Nadu (82). Maharashtra alone showed a rise of 196. Nine States showed declines exceeding 50 farm suicides, of which Karnataka (485) and Andhra Pradesh (319) and West Bengal (186) claimed the biggest falls. That, of course, after Chhattisgarh, which claimed a decline of 1,126, with its zero farm suicides figure in 2011.

7. Gujarat has low crime rate. Gujarat is considered to be the safest place to reside, in India. Crime rate against girls is also very less, so Gujarat is safest place for girls also.
The list is endless & if u want to prolong the list, than keep Congress out of Gujarat & elect Mr. Narendra Modi as ur CM, for another term of 5years.
I also request the people of Gujarat, to send Modi to the Centre next year, bcoz whole India wants to experience the development, which Gujarat has tasted in the last 5years.

4. Education – Stop privatisation of education and bring more and more govt. funded schools and colleges.
5. Housing – Activate Housing board or form new board to bring down the prices of house. Although the price of the houses has gone up across India. Why can’t govt build affordable housing for Middle Class ( I repeat Middle Class) who suffers the most. Because Rich doesnt have problem of affordablity and Poor Class gets support from Govt. What about Middle Class ? How can one afford 30-70 Lacs House in Ahmedabad ?

BJP is NM and NM is BJP in case of Gujarat. So, except, NM no able leadership can be identified. I think one should also vote considering local candidate credential and potential too. But, unfortunately, I believe many of us do not have choice in this regard. I personally feel there is a regional disparity in development considering Gujarat state government support. South Gujarat is not in the primary list when issue of assistance comes. Although here due to self reliant entrepreneurial development from many years due to historical and geographical reasons, effect of absence of assistance does not feel that much. I believe absence of good leaders from this region is primary reason for it.
Congress is in chaos too. Their internal conflicts are open to the public now. Its image is totally blotted due to the big scams at central level in recent times.
When choice of candidate comes both parties are similar. Many of their candidates are crorepati. If one dig it further, many skeleton will come out from their past for obvious reasons. Can we imagine that they serve the people in right earnest when their own past is riddled with corruption and all other wrong issues?
Talking about Surat especially, I really surprise when I have seen the education qualification of many of the candidates. Some of them are not even crossed 12th std. Are they representing us? I am not saying that under educated can not serve. But, well educated can serve the people better if they have that zeal, aren’t they ?
So, being Indian citizen and belonging to young generation which has the highest responsibility towards nation, I am in very awkward position where in I have to choose among the candidates who are least corrupt among the corrupted and better educated ,at least graduate, compare to others. Most of us already knew what will be the result? BJP will again come to the power due to NM factor, may be with less number than previous one. All forbids but I personally feel this is not the way we should still have to go ahead.
